Day 1 of the programme saw the Mixologists meeting the Teamaker at the home of Dilmah. The team visited the Dilmah factory premises in Peliyagoda. They were greeted with a flamboyant welcome dance and garlands fashioned out of tea leaves.
The day was spent getting up-close and personal with none other than the best of Ceylon tea, Dilmah, which they would be mixing, muddling, tasting and brewing for the next 9 days to come. Dilhan, the younger son of Dilmah founder and the distinguished teamaker Merrill J. Fernando, took them through the heady journey of unlocking the true spirit of tea.
This was followed by an afternoon full of laughter and merriment at the MJF Centre in Moratuwa. They put their creative skills to test, mixing colours instead of flavours as they joined the kids from the Centre to draw and paint to their heart’s content.
The day closed with a proper éclat with an evening of Tea in Harmony with Gastronomy & Mixology at the Colombo Hilton. The tea inspired dinner was presented by Chef Andrea Ferrero of Bulgari Hotels and Resorts Milano. The bartenders, all members of the prestigious Bols Network of Bartenders, shook things up with their tantalizing brews and treated the guests to something out of the ordinary.
