I was the first to leave the Mixologists & the Teamaker amazing journey through Sri Lanka. After having spent six of the best days of my life exploring the different Dilmah tea estates , visiting several MJF projects as well as some stunning Sri Lankan landmarks, enjoying the most exquisite Sri Lankan delicacies, tasting delightful tea cocktails in the most exotic locations, and drinking many cups delicious Ceylon tea, it was time for me to head back home to Amsterdam.

Cold Welcome

I left Colombo on Sunday evening to arrive on Monday morning to my office at the Lucas Bols Headquarters.  Not easy at all.  The weather in Colombo was 35 degrees Celsius when I left  Sri Lanka, and Amsterdam welcomed me with minus 2 degrees. However, the memories of this unforgettable trip have kept me warm as I have found myself staring constantly at the photographs.

But I still do miss…

I miss the sound of the birds at the misty hills of Nuwara Eliya, I miss the smell of the fresh tea leaves at the Endane Estate factory, I miss the smiles of the Sri Lankan people, I miss Hercules, the little newcomer at the Elephant transit home, I miss the chats with Indrajit , my kind friend from Dilmah, I  miss the jokes of the mixologists during the long bus rides, I miss the Sri Lankan food, I miss having a nightcap with Steve and Dan from the film crew at Cinnamon Lakeside, I miss the every morning anticipation of receiving the daily photographs of our talented photographer Iza.

This unforgettable tea journey has changed me and has added a whole new meaning to a cup of tea.  It has stirred all my senses and has deeply touched my heart.

Thank you Dilmah.
